Guerilla Toss – “367 Equalizer” (Stereogum Premiere)
Boston’s Guerilla Toss have always worked a certain funk backbone into their music, but it’s been a foundation to something that is chaotic, noisy, and destructive (watch their recent live video to understand why those are all good things). “367 Equalizer,” however, is surprisingly tight, and finds them locking into one extremely satisfying groove while throwing in every strange noise and scream in their arsenal. The trancelike song is part of Infinity Cat’s recent bi-monthly cassette series, curated by Casey Weissbuch of Diarrhea Planet, which might give the impression of it being a one-off-type thing, but I sincerely hope they’re not done exploring this sound. It’s immediately one of the most satisfying things they’ve recorded. Listen to it below.
