Orange Is The New Black Actress Was A Punk/New Wave Star
If you watch Orange Is The New Black, you already know that Annie Golden can sing. Golden, who plays the mostly-mute kitchen-working inmate Norma Romano on the Netflix prison show, had a great musical moment during the Christmas-pageant episode that ended the show’s first season. But there’s a chance you’ve heard her voice before without realizing it. As SPIN points out, in the late ’70s, Golden sang for the Shirts, a power pop band who regularly headlined CBGB. Later, Golden would go full-on new wave, and her video for “Hang Up The Phone,” her song from the Sixteen Candles soundtrack, is quite possibly the most ’80s thing you will ever see. Observe:
