Mike D Discusses The $5M Townhouse He’s Designing And Selling In Brooklyn
Beastie Boy Mike D has been working on developing a brownstone in the Cobble Hill area of Brooklyn alongside his wife, Tamra Davis, and architect friends Jill and John Bouratoglou. The townhouse is now on the market for $4.98 million and features three floors, four bedrooms, and a garage. He and Davis moved to the area a few years ago from TriBeCa and renovated their own Cobble Hill home, which you can see pictures of here. In a New York Times profile piece on the artist’s real estate ventures, Mike D responds to people who may criticize the once-rebellious rapper for giving up his partying ways: “What, am I supposed to live in a frat house? It’s not like Jay Z’s still in the projects.” Jonathan Miller, the president of the appraisal company who priced the property, said that Mike D’s fame definitely raised the profile of the project: “His brand/reputation is Brooklyn, a positive. He’s not known for design, but this is a quirky pairing, so it gets eyeballs onto the project.” Mike D is apparently already looking for another property to develop, though he’s taking it slow and being cautious: “I know it sounds new-agey, but the best projects just present themselves. You just get together with your friends, and it doesn’t even feel like work.” Read the full article here.
