Ryan Hemsworth – “Snow In Newark” (Feat. Dawn Golden)
Ryan Hemsworth has been taking the time recently to shine the spotlight on other artists with his Secret Songs label, which has put out singles from Ricky Eat Acid, DD Elle, and more, but he’s ready to release some more music of his own. “Snow In Newark” is the first track from his upcoming second studio album. It’s a warm and sweet song, not too far removed from what he was doing on Guilt Trips, which is a good thing considering how great that album is. The song features vocals from Mad Decent signee and Houses member Dexter Tortoriello, who records solo material under the name Dawn Golden. “It’s about trying to get back to my first love, emo music, actually,” Hemsworth told Vogue about the song. “Maybe it’s a reaction to all the party music out there now, but I just needed to do something a little quieter — every song I do is in a minor key.” Listen below.
“Snow In Newark” will be released as a 7″ b/w “Body Pillow” (feat. Ricky Eat Acid) on 10/28 via Last Gang/Secret Songs. Details about the next record are still forthcoming.
