Watch Ty Segall Cover Some David Bowie Songs Around Chicago’s “David Bowie Day”
Tuesday was the day that the David Bowie Is exhibit opened at the Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago, and mayor Rahm Emmanuel named it “David Bowie Day.” The next night, coincidentally enough, Ty Segall played a show in Chicago. Segall’s great, great new album Manipulator takes plenty of cues from Bowie’s glam era, and when he played Chicago, he did a quick medley of Bowie songs from that era: “Ziggy Stardust,” “Suffragette City,” “Queen Bitch”. He nailed that bitchy tone, too. Watch a muddy fan-made video of those covers below.
If you like Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust period — and you obviously do, who doesn’t? — you should really hear Manipulator. It’s out now on Drag City.
