Brooklyn Legend Neil Diamond Secretly Played His First Hometown Show Last Night
Believe it or not, Neil Diamond had never played a show in his home borough of Brooklyn until last night. Yesterday, the singer announced a pop-up show only a few hours before it was set to begin. The show took place in the chapel of Erasmus Hall High School, where Neil attended for two years. (The school also counts Barbra Streisand and Clive Davis as alumni.) Billboard has the full play-by-play of what went down, but Diamond started off by reminiscing on his high school days before launching into a set that contained old hits and new songs from his upcoming album, Melody Road. You can watch some short video from the homecoming show of Diamond singing “Sweet Caroline” and “I’m A Believer” below.
You can see a camera swinging around during those, so there’s a good chance we’ll get some good quality video eventually. And here’s the poster that was used to advertise the show:
Melody Road is out 10/21 on Capitol.
