Washer – “Rot”
Washer first got our attention with their excellent debut EP earlier this year. Now they’re back for a split with Big Ups, who they came up alongside in the New York garage rock scene. (Big Ups contributed the banging “Rash” to the release.) “Rot” is indicative of what the duo does best: a stripped down but propulsive track with self-deprecating wit. “So many things I said I’d do/ but all I do is sit and stew/ and come across as a snob/ all I want to do is rot,” Mike Quigley sings with a deep-throated deadpan. It’s a lively blast of energy that decays at it goes along. Listen below.
The Big Ups/Washer split is out 11/9 via Exploding In Sound and East Coast Basements And Bedrooms.
