It started with a joke. El-P offered to remake Run The Jewels’ forthcoming album RTJ2 using nothing but cat noises if someone bought a $40,000 deluxe edition. But then someone started a Kickstarter campaign, and it started to look like it might happen. El-P got really excited about the idea, pledging to give all the money to charity if the crowdfunding project reached its goal and getting a ton of big-name talents to agree to contribute. At this point, he’s lined up Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, Just Blaze, Zola Jesus, Baauer, Prince Paul, Dan The Automator, Boots, the Alchemist, Skywlkr, and Nick Hook. And now, this thing is actually going to happen. As El just pointed out on Twitter, the project met its $46,210 fundraising goal, with 12 days left to go. You should probably still contribute, though, since the guy who started this project is going to have to pay taxes on that money. Check the project out here.
