Stream Neil Young Storytone
Oftentimes, ambitious artists, as they get older, become more likely to play things safer. With Neil Young, if anything, the opposite is true. Young’s new album is Storytone, and it’s an aesthetic 180 from A Letter Home, the collection of old-timey covers that he recorded in Jack White’s vinyl recording booth and released earlier this year. Storytone features Young’s environmentalist anthem “Who’s Gonna Stand Up?,” and he recorded it with a 92-piece orchestra or a big band playing on every track, with a choir dipping in sometimes. He also recorded an acoustic version of the album, and both versions are streaming at NPR right now. Check them out here.
Storytone is out 11/4 on Reprise.
