Big Ears Festival 2015 Lineup
Every year, the Big Ears Festival brings an enviable lineup of adventurous and experimental musicians to the unlikely hub of Knoxville, Tennessee. Next year’s festival runs 3/27-29. The organizers just announced the initial lineup, and it’s a doozy.
As Pitchfork reports, the bill includes people like Swans, Perfume Genius, tUnE-yArDs, Grouper, Jamie xx, Steve Gunn, Ben Frost, Clark, Amen Dunes, the Bad Plus, Bill Frisell, Sam Amidon, Harold Budd and Keith Lowe, Holly Herndon, and SQÜRL, a new band that features film director Jim Jarmusch. The Kronos Quartet will serve as the festival’s artists in residence this year, and they’re set to collaborate onstage with the National’s Bryce Dessner, Laurie Anderson, Wilco’s Nels Cline, and Tanya Tagaq. Meanwhile, Max Richter will do a sort of live remix of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and Demdike Stare will perform a live score of the 1922 film Häxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages.
