Don Henley Found Another Fan To Sue
The notoriously litigious Don Henley still has his sights set on Frank Ocean, Okkervil River, and a clothing company, and here’s another person to add to the list. This one seems pretty reasonable, however: NY Daily News reports that Henley and bandmate Glenn Frey are suing concert archivist William Shelley for violating their copyright after he refused to follow a cease-and-desist order to stop screening unlicensed concert footage at a theater in Connecticut. They are trying to seize Shelley’s entire archive, which The Guardian reports contains more 10,000 hours of concert footage, TV shows, and more featuring bands such as the Eagles, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, the Rolling Stones, and more. In its lawsuit, the band claims that Shelly is trying to “bolster his reputation as a purported music industry ‘insider’ with close connections and ties to many classic rock greats” and is making a lot of money doing so. The band’s lawyers have filed a federal lawsuit to reclaim the footage.
