Warp Records confirmed that the multi-talented instrumentalist, producer, and singer Nick Talbot has died at the age of 37. The cause of death is unknown. His manager Michelle Hilborne issued the following statement:

The finest, most extraordinary and inspirational songwriter, singer and performer, and a remarkable producer and journalist, Nick’s work has deeply affected so many people all over the world. Outstandingly intelligent, compassionate, fascinating and witty, Nick was the dearest friend and his absence brings indescribable sorrow.

A short documentary about Talbot and his relationship to the city of Bristol premiered in late November to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his album Flashlight Seasons. Talbot poetically describes the way the city shaped his identity as a musician, soundtracked by his gorgeous song “The Citizen.” Watch below.
