XL Teases Atoms For Peace “Save The Date”
UPDATE: XL tells us it was a misunderstanding…
The image is in fact just a photo of a detail from the screen printing room in the XL office (the label often does limited runs of screen printed posters and record sleeves). We’ve been posting a few office details recently such as http://instagram.com/p/v5qB99hR8I/?modal=true and http://instagram.com/p/xmYEn7BR8j/?modal=true to give people an insight into what goes on in the office. This was meant to be another of those…
So, definitely not a teaser for new Atoms For Peace material. Apologies if it was misleading – we’ve taken it down to avoid any confusion going forwards.
In 2014 we got a surprise Thom Yorke album and word of Radiohead studio sessions, but not a peep from Atoms For Peace, Yorke’s funky side project with Flea, Nigel Godrich, and others. It seems like that engine might be revving back up again in one form or another. On Instagram, XL Records teased a “save the date” for some kind of Atoms For Peace project with the tagline “For the benefit of all mankind.” The image, viewable above, seems to be borrowed from an album cover by the London band 11 Paranoias, viewable below. We’re not sure whether that suggests a collaboration, a remix, a concert, or something else entirely.
Here’s the Instagram post in question.
