Gengahr – “She’s A Witch” (Stereogum Premiere)
Gengahr’s previous single, “Powder,” positioned them as one of the UK’s buzziest new bands, so expertly did its clanging psych-pop walk the line between Tame Impala’s sprawling soundscapes and Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s miniature suites. “She’s A Witch,” the title track from the band’s new EP, operates in that same post-MGMT realm, but it’s got a dancey skip in its step to go along with the translucent guitar leads, groovy Modest Mouse bass gallops, and fluttering falsetto vocals. “Maybe she’ll sink,” they sing, “maybe she’ll fly.” This one soars, so hear it below.
She’s A Witch is out 3/10 via Transgressive, and Gengahr will be in the US for SXSW the following week.
