Lil Wayne Suing Birdman & Cash Money For $51M
Over the weekend, rumors surfaced that Lil Wayne was considering suing Birdman for $8 million dollars for the delay of his next album, Tha Carter V. Well, the rumors are true, but he’s suing for a hell of a lot more — $51 million, to be precise. TMZ obtained a copy of the lawsuit, and it says that Cash Money violated Lil Wayne’s contract by withholding tens of millions of dollars and that, because Wayne hasn’t been paid the advance for his new album, he should be allowed to walk away from the label. But it doesn’t stop there: Wayne also wants the judge to declare him as the joint copyright holder for all Young Money recordings, which includes tracks from Drake and Nicki Minaj. Sources tell TMZ that Birdman can still put out Tha Carter V, but only if Wayne gets paid his promised $8 million advance, plus $2 million for the completion of the album. Looks like this is going to get messy…
