Drake’s Homecoming Concert Film Coming To Theaters For One Night Only
“I hope they document what I’m becoming,” raps an impossibly young and fresh-faced Drake on “Congratulations,” the final song in the preview for a new concert film called Drake’s Homecoming: The Lost Footage. The film features footage from his hometown concert in 2009 at Toronto’s Sound Academy around the time So Far Gone was taking off along with interviews with the likes of Bun B and Jas Prince and behind-the-scenes vignettes about the Toronto rapper’s rise to rap superstardom. The film will be screened in select AMC theaters for one night only on 3/19, though presumably it will hit the internet at some point too. The footage was originally believed to be lost or destroyed, but it recently resurfaced, and the additional interviews were added. If the frenzy surrounding his surprise release If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late last night is any indication, he’s become the success story he predicted. And if the revelation that Lil Wayne used to think Drake “sucked” is anything to go by, we might actually learn some interesting things in this movie. Watch the trailer below.
