Watch Aloe Blacc And Blackstreet Join Forces As Aloe Blaccstreet On Kimmel
In Jimmy Kimmel Live’s “Mash-Up Mondays” series, the show has been pairing younger performers with bands of an older vintage in pun-happy combinations. We’ve already seen Weezer with ZZ Top and Morris Day & The Time with HAIM. And on last night’s show, pop-soul singer Aloe Blacc teamed up with ’90s R&B kings Blackstreet, forming a unit called, obviously enough, Aloe Blaccstreet. Together, they sang Blackstreet’s earthshaking 1996 “No Diggity,” a song that absolutely refuses to get old. And in a nice touch, Aloe Blacc started things off with a quick few seconds of Bill Withers’ beyond-classic “Grandma’s Hands,” the song Blackstreet sampled for “No Diggity.” Watch the performance below.
I get that Dr. Dre was probably too busy to show up for his “No Diggity” guest verse. But Queen Pen? What the hell does she have going on that’s so important?
