Family Bike is the new project of long-time friends Karl Kuehn (who also heads up Museum Mouth) and drummer Taylor Haag, and they’re getting ready to release their debut album, Everything You Own Is Anagrammed, in the spring. They’re leading things off with “Idiot Boy,” which Kuehn describes as a “song for a German gymnast that I fell in love with during the 2012 Olympics!” And it certainly drips with the kind of unobtainable lust you get after seeing someone on TV: “If I could I would already have you in my bed, and erased all the memories of the brunette that came before me. Though the high bar’s probably a different story,” Kuehn starts off in his wobbly voice. “A tiny piece of heaven, born in ’87,” goes the chorus, a fact probably gleaned from a Wikipedia page. “Idiot Boy” is a skittish, well-constructed piece of power-punk, and you can listen below.
