I watched The Onion Movie last night and figured out why they didn't really promote it much when it came out on DVD a few weeks ago. While the movie, which is a series of news reports based on Onion articles very loosely linked by a narrative about a big corporation and an irate anchor, is extremely good when you compare it to those Date Movies and Epic Movies, it's trying to be a lot more than those movies are, and in that it fails. They should have probably just kept it silly instead of trying to hold a mirror up to society. But despite some groan-worthy oversatire, it's more watchable than I expected, and features cameos by The Soup's Joel McHale, Steven Seagal, and Michael Bolton. This scene was the one that made me laugh the hardest, though there were several.

In a world where MadTV has been on the air for almost thirteen years, I think we can cut The Onion Movie some slack.
