The Soft Moon – “Desertion”
Luis Vasquez always manages to find the beauty in isolation. Even at their most raucous, his songs as the Soft Moon carry a certain melodic, comforting nature. On “Desertion,” he uses knotted synths to craft an insular sound, one that feels both hectic and oddly at ease. And with all the talk of dying alone that he partakes in on the track, it doesn’t come across as nearly as apocalyptic as it could or maybe should have. Like “Black” and “Far” before it, “Desertion” hints at only good things to come for Vasquez’s next full-length, Deeper. Listen below.
Deeper is out 3/31 via Captured Tracks.
