Stream Liturgy The Ark Work
The Brooklyn band Liturgy made their name as black-metal experimentalists, starting fights in the metal underground by using the music to strive for bright transcendence rather than dark hate-wallow muck. But other than a few aesthetic touches, the band’s new album The Ark Work, their third, leaves behind metal, black and otherwise, almost entirely. Instead, it’s an album of intense and experimental music, music that never quite fits into any genre tag. We’ve posted the early tracks “Quetzalcoatl” and “Reign Array,” and now you can stream the entire smart, visceral thing at NPR.
The Ark Work is out 3/24 on Thrill Jockey.
