When I interviewed the hardcore band NEEDS on Monday, we attempted to unpack what their Vancouver rock music scene might look like to outsiders. What we eventually agreed on is: Most people in the U.S. barely know any bands who owe their reputation to Vancouver, aside from White Lung, and they’re based in L.A. now! Weed are one of the most notable bands coming up out of the Vancouver scene, and as it turns out, one of Weed’s members used to play in NEEDS way back in the day. About a month ago, we premiered “Stay In The Summer,” the first single off of Weed’s forthcoming Lefse full-length Running Back, and today the band’s offered up “Yr Songs.” Listen below.
