Jacco Gardner – “Hypnophobia”
We’ve previously heard “Find Yourself” off Jacco Gardner’s freewheeling, psyschedlia-infused Hypnophobia, and seen the doomsday drug trip video. Today he’s released the title track, a mostly instrumental, linear number that feels like it could soundtrack a spy movie from the ’70s. But it’s not all nostalgia; the Dutch producer/multi-instrumentalist works xylophone, pounding drums, and tossed off beeps into his compositions in sinuous, clever ways. Apprehension and anticipation in one dreamy, tangled mess. Listen below.
Hypnophobia is out 5/5 on Polyvinyl.
