Fool’s Gold Flying Lessons

L.A. world-pop collective Fool's Gold hit a sweet spot between wandering psychedelic pop and sunny, sparkling funk on their third album Flying Lessons. On previous records, primary vocalist and lyricist Luke Top penned the songs in Hebrew, and closing number "Ta'alumah" nods to their past. But overall, this album is a complete step forward for the group; their sound is tighter and brighter, more polished even as it settles into deeper grooves. "Another Sun" absolutely beams through plinking synths, waves of percussion and shimmering organ. Or there's the generous lilt of early single "I'm In Love." For a dose of summery, joyous goodness, let this record play all the way through, and don't be surprised if you find yourself swaying and smiling in the process.
