Jordan Bratton – “Bound” (Stereogum Premiere)
Long Island singer Jordan Bratton has that enviable combination of undeniable talent and impeccable style. Bratton sings pop-minded R&B with a youthful edge, so YOUTH is a perfect name for his upcoming EP. I’m fond of his Chance The Rapper collab “Prisoner,” and when his Fabolous-featuring “Danger” made it into The Week In Pop a few months back, I wrote, “Bratton matches a teenager’s energy with a veteran’s poise.” Now, with the EP only a few days from release, Bratton shares “Bound.” It’s a swaggering blast of gospel-tinged, retro-futuristic pop that proves he’s perfectly capable of holding it down without assistance from a famous rapper.
