Triathalon – “Usher Surfing” Video (Stereogum Premiere)
Last year, Savannah four-piece Triathalon put out their sunny, charming full-length debut Lo-Tide. Since then, they’ve been on tour, and are currently putting the finishing touches on their followup, but they’re looking back for now with a new video for Lo-Tide highlight “Usher Surfing.” The video is a fuzzy, shimmering mirage — pools of blue water threaten to take over everything, as images of waves and girls in bikinis break up the band members crooning into the camera. The titular R&B star even shows up at one point in the background. The seasick, woozy stuttering of the video matches the mood of the song well, and as the song starts to dissipate, the footage fades away along with it. Watch below.
Lo-Tide is out now via Broken Circles.
