Hit-Boy – “Go All Night” (Feat. Travi$ Scott)
Hit-Boy is a production mastermind capable of turning out linear stutter-stunners that always make the rapper ensconced in them sound incredible. Think of “Backseat Freestyle,” “Clique” or “Trophies” — the guy makes beats for rappers to boast over, as if they draw their power from the sound itself. I only recently shook off my post-Owl Pharaoh disdain for Travi$ Scott and realized he’s actually been doing some pretty incredible work lately, and “Go All Night,” his new Hit-Boy collaboration, might be the cherry on top. It’s a smirking, late-night stunt that feels like bottle service and flirting, the giddy elation that settles when you realize you can’t fail. This is the sound of money, success, power. If only the radio could handle a song without a hook. Listen.
