The Rolling Stones – “Dead Flowers (Alternate Version)”
Next month, the Rolling Stones are going to release a deluxe reissue of their beyond-classic 1971 album Sticky Fingers, and they’re packing it with things like demos and alternate versions. We’ve already posted different takes “Wild Horses,” “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking,” and “Bitch.” And to add to your whole “holy shit, Sticky Fingers had a lot of great songs on it” reaction, please enjoy an alternate take on the all-time great kiss-off “Dead Flowers.” This version of the song is twangier and woolier than the one that ended up on the album, and it replaces the acoustic honky-tonk strut of the album version with a whole lot of molten guitar interplay. Check it out below.
The Sticky Fingers reissue is out 6/8, and you can preorder it here.
