Jimmy Fallon Imagines An Ed Sheeran Album Even Worse Than X
British wimp-folk superstar Ed Sheeran might not be as big as his friend Taylor Swift yet, but he his big enough for Jimmy Fallon to bring him in for comedy bits on The Tonight Show. Last night, Fallon did a whole imaginary infomercial dedicated to the idea that it would be funny if Sheeran covered some metal songs without remotely altering his soothing, soft-spoken style. This involved Sheeran covering Iron Maiden’s “Run To The Hills” and Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff” while trying heroically not to break into giggling fits. (Cue Stereogum’s own Michael Nelson howling with rage that anyone would ever, even for comedy purposes, put Bizkit on the same album as Slayer or Morbid Angel.) And as a bonus comedy bit, Sheeran also covered Ty Dolla $ign’s “Paranoid,” a song he’s covered in real life before. Watch the sketch below.
Shout out to the Ed Sheeran interlude from Ty Dolla $ign’s Sign Language mixtape.
