The 5 Best Videos Of The Week

It's not on the list because I'm not sure how good it is, but Nekrogoblikon's "We Need A Gimmick" video is a pretty fascinating attempt at going viral, wrapped up in a comedy video about the quest to go viral. Also, that goblin costume is great. But I have a strict policy against joke-rap videos, so Nekrogoblikon had no shot here. Instead, this week's picks are below.

5. William Tyler - "The Sleeping Prophet" (Dir. Elise Tyler)

Contemplative slice-of-life verite stuff that finds a shocking amount of beauty in the absolutely mundane. I never considered the idea that fingerpicking psych-folk guitarist types might need to keep their nails constantly maintained, but it just makes sense.

4. Blur - "Ong Ong" (Dir. Tony Hung)

The "Coffee And TV"-esque "cute anthropomorphic love story" thing is fun, and the video game looks almost plausible enough to exist. But for me, the real soul of the video is in the final shot: The members of Blur, dressed up in these giant goofy costumes, waving their arms around like silent-movie comedians while trying to get through a too-small door.

3. Kodaline - "Ready" (Dir. Abteen Bagheri)

Disabled mustache-rocking McLovin: American hero.

2. FIDLAR - "40oz On Repeat" (Dir. Ryan Baxley)

Music videos are the best.

1. BigBang - "Bang Bang Bang" (Dir. Seo Hyun Seung)

Again: music videos are the best.
