Delorean – “Crystal”
Barcelona’s Delorean started out as punks before moving onto a form of sweeping, summery synthpop with a serious evocative pulse to it. They haven’t released a whole lot under their own name since the 2013 album Apar, though they have lately done remixes for people like Mas Ysa and Shura. They’re now hard at work on an album that they expect to have out early next year, and they’re about to release a hazy and shimmery new digital single called “Crystal” upon the world. In the ranks of songs named “Crystal” that sound like New Order, it’s right up there with New Order’s “Crystal.” Check it out and read a statement from the band below.
Delorean write:
We’d been working on new music for a while and wanted to release something for the summer and include a couple of new tracks in the live show. “Crystal” came about quite naturally and it was great to work with Alex [Ferrer] again on the mixing. We also have a new track coming out later in the month which is more of a b-side and different to “Crystal.” In the meantime we’re working away in the new album and really excited with the music that we’re doing and can’t wait to share with everyone.
The “Crystal” single is out 6/23 on the band’s own PHLEX label.
