Remember when Kelly Clarkson teased her new song by making a video of her baby daughter dancing to it? No? Here’s a refresher:

It was the lead single off her seventh album Piece By Piece, which came out in March. I’ve been a Clarkson fan since “Since U Been Gone” because that song is unequivocally the definition of a flames emoji, so perhaps that colors my positive view of “Heartbeat Song.” Thing is, though, this song sounds like Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle” put through a pop star prism; how could that possibly turn out bad? Anyway, as much as I love Clarkson’s version, British art-rockers Everything Everything covered it for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, fiddling with the melody until all the glitches and falsetto make it sound like Thom Yorke was a cowriter. It’s a fantastic cover of an equally fantastic song. Listen below.
