Diddy Arrested For Assaulting His Son’s Football Coach With A Kettlebell
Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon this afternoon after allegedly attacking a UCLA football coach with a kettlebell weight. Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, is a defensive back on the team, and TMZ reports that the assistant coach was “screaming intensely” at Justin during practice while Diddy watched from the sidelines. Diddy later confronted the coach in his office and grabbed him, but no one was seriously injured. Diddy was taken into custody by campus police and remains in campus jail (which is a thing, apparently), but is expected to be transported to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center later this evening. Head coach Jim Mora issued the following statement through the school: “I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation. This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”
UPDATE: A representative for Diddy has also issued a statement denying the charges: “The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate. What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
