Iggy Pop, Grace Jones, Henry Rollins To Star In Silent Movie Gutterdämmerung
As Pitchfork reports, Iggy Pop, Grace Jones, Henry Rollins, and Eagles Of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes are all starring in a silent film called Gutterda?mmerung, directed by Belgian-Swedish visual artist Bjorn Tagemos. The film is using the tagline “the loudest silent movie on Earth,” and the whole thing sounds spectacularly nuts — according to BEAT, the “epic loud and dark fairytale” centers around the Devil’s evil guitar, which a punk rock angel named Vicious (Iggy Pop) sends back to Earth, causing puritan priest Henry Rollins to send a young woman to destroy it. Inexplicably, Grace Jones also stars as the only person who can control the testosterone of the evil rock ‘n’ rollers. The film will be accompanied by a live narrator and scored by a live rock band, and Henry Rollins — who’s also co-screenwriting — says that the audience will be standing up the whole time. See some promo shots and watch the director and stars discuss the film in a hilariously hyperbolic video below, and check the film’s website here for future casting updates.
Gutterda?mmerung will tour at the end of 2015/early 2016.
