Peaches – “Bodyline” (Feat. Nick Zinner)
Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block releases a series of free weekly singles from moderate-to-large-name artists every year under their “Adult Swim Singles” feature, each with a unique piece of cover art. So far this year, we’ve heard tracks from artists like Swervedriver, D?WN, and Cherry Glazerr. This week’s single is from Peaches, the otherworldly Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer. Peaches told The Vine that she experimented with guitars by Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs for her upcoming fall release Rub, but in the end chose not to include them for the sake of a more “minimal” feel. Instead of trashing their collaboration all together, Peaches gave Adult Swim the fruits of their labor, a chant-heavy track called “Bodyline.” I don’t blame her for not including this track on her album — it sounds much more Yeah Yeah Yeahs than Peaches, sacrificing her usual beats with blaring guitars. This is enjoyable, but Peaches is better at being herself than being Karen O. Listen.
You can download “Bodyline” for free at Adult Swim’s website starting at noon EDT.
