Prince Announces The Hit & Run Album
The BBC reports that Prince and his recent-vintage backing band 3rd Eye Girl have a new album all loaded up and ready to go. The members of 3rd Eye Girl discussed the new LP The Hit & Run Album a bit with the BBC, and they say it’s both “experimental” and “hit after hit,” which is an intriguing combination. Prince co-wrote it with 3rd Eye Girl drummer Hannah Ford Welton’s husband Joshua Welton, who also co-produced last year’s Art Official Age. The album includes new versions of the decades-old unreleased Prince track “1,000 Hugs And Kisses” and the Art Official Age song “This Could Be Us.” And given that Prince has lately taken to dropping one-off tracks like “What If,” “Baltimore,” and “Hardrocklover,” it seems like a few of those tracks could easily end up on the album. The members of 3rd Eye Girl don’t know exactly when the album will come out, but they say, “It’s definitely something we’re thinking is going to be released right away, it’s just not been nailed down yet.” That basically means it could arrive at any moment.
