Ryan Hemsworth – “Afterglow”
The endlessly inventive Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth usually cranks out a ton of music, but he’s been a bit quiet since releasing his Alone For The First Time mini-album late last year. (To be fair, he has remixed Mitski and produced Tinashe; he’s just been quiet for him.) Today, though, Hemsworth has a new track, a lovely floating piece called “Afterglow” that mixes his usual atmospheric blips and thumps with cello. Hemsworth produced the track, and he also sang and played guitar. By way of describing the song on his Soundcloud page, he offers only this: “fionna apple in ‘the first taste’ music video (1996).” I’m not sure what that means, but you can hear the song and watch Apple’s video below.
Could we maybe get another Fiona Apple album before the sun engulfs Earth?
