Watch Thundercat & Flying Lotus Bring Space-Jazz To Why? With Hannibal Buress
Hannibal Buress hasn’t been hosting his Comedy Central show Why? With Hannibal Buress for long, but he’s already made it a vital place to hear adventurous Low End Theory-style rap and bass music. The psychedelic soul-jazz bass virtuoso Thundercat has already appeared on the show once, backing up Open Mike Eagle last month. And last night, he was the headline musical guest. He sang “Them Changes,” a song from his new mini-album The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam. And he had help — from Flying Lotus, his label boss and frequent collaborator and the show’s in-house DJ, and from jazz keyboardist Dennis Hamm. Also, he played a giant six-string bass that was practically as big as him. Watch the performance below.
The Beyond/Where The Giants Roam is out now on Braidfeeder.
