Deafheaven – “Brought To The Water”
Deafheaven’s first New Bermuda single is here. At eight-plus minutes, album opener “Brought To The Water” is as sprawling a song-suite as anything on Sunbather, but the triumphant static of “Dream House” and “Sunbather” has given way to a cleaner, more mannered sound. That said, this is still Deafheaven, so it’s still ferocious and cinematic. Frontman George Clarke offered some background to Pitchfork:
We wanted to share “Brought to the Water” first because it gives a good idea of the overall sonic tone of the record and really evokes feelings that come with uprooting and throwing oneself into the complacent, monotonous routine of adulthood.
