This summer we ran a cover story about the recent resurgence of vinyl and the effects of that resurgence on distributors, consumers, artists and the whole community. It asked: Have we reached peak vinyl? Unfortunately, it seems we had not. Though perhaps now, with the announcement of Amazon's reissuing of five classic '80s movie soundtracks on vinyl, we finally have arrived at the tipping point.
As Modern Vinyl points out, the online retailer will release Dirty Dancing, The Goonies (30th Anniversary Edition), Footloose, Rocky IV, and Top Gun. These are all exclusive to Amazon and will be released on 10/9.
