Grief’s Infernal Flower, the new album from the Richmond, Virginia band Windhand, is a crushingly slow and heavy doom-metal opus. But in the midst of all its world-obliterating guitar crunches, it’s also got a whole lot of melody, and sometimes its sound turns into straight-up spectral folk music. The band recorded the album with veteran grunge producer Jack Endino, who worked on records like Nirvana’s Bleach, and it’s a worthy successor to their great 2013 album Soma.
