Man Made – “Bring Some” (Stereogum Premiere)
Man Made is a pop-rock trio fronted by Nile Marr. Yes, he’s Johnny’s son, but you can throw out your preconceptions about the children of rock stars flaunting vanity projects like expensive playthings. (This is coming from somebody who still rides for those old Wallflowers singles, but still.) “Bring Some,” the title track from Man Made’s new EP, is insanely likable Brit-rock that pulls heavily from UK totems of ’80s and ’90s such as the Stone Roses, Bends-era Radiohead, and — wait for it — the Smiths. And if you ever had a taste for cult guitar bands such as Doves or Idlewild, “Bring Some” will definitely hit your sweet spot. Gorgeous lead guitar work and tumbling rhythms drive the song forward, but the humongous, wide-open chorus is what keeps me coming back. Listen below.
