Kanye West doesn't only want to be the president of America -- he also wants to be our Idol. After receiving some political advice from Barack Obama and performing at a DNC fundraiser event in San Francisco yesterday, Kanye made a surprise appearance at the Bay Area auditions for the final season of American Idol. He performed an a cappella rendition of his 2005 Late Registration single "Gold Digger" for judges Harry Connick, Jr., Keith Urban, and Jennifer Lopez -- who seemed pretty into the part of the song that name-checks her -- and received a golden ticket to Hollywood from host Ryan Seacrest. It's not clear if this was just a one-time thing or if he's actually planning on competing on American Idol -- anything to avoid SWISH, huh? -- but you can watch a bit of his audition below.
