Mogwai Guitarist John Cummings Leaves Band
Mogwai have announced that long-time guitarist John Cummings has left the band to “pursue his own musical projects.” In a statement on their website, they say that they will continue on as a four-piece, with two musicians joining them to replace Cummings on tour. Cummings joined the band shortly after its creation in 1995, and has been playing on their records since their 1997 debut Mogwai Young Team. Here’s the full statement:
We are sad to announce that John Cummings has decided to leave Mogwai to pursue his own musical projects.
We will continue as a four piece of Dominic Aitchison, Stuart Braithwaite, Martin Bulloch and Barry Burns and shall be joined on our upcoming live shows by Scott Paterson and Luke Sutherland.
We wish John all the best with the future.
Mogwai are currently recording a new album.
