Watch Jewel & The Gang Play Jimmy Kimmel‘s Mash-Up Monday
You have to respect that Jimmy Kimmel Live chooses its Mash-Up Monday musical combinations based entirely on bad-pun reasons, just trusting the musical side of things to work out. Sometimes, it doesn’t work out (Color Me Bradd), and sometimes it does (Joss Stone Temple Pilots). Last night, we got the third Mash Up Monday of the month, and it was one of the good ones. Alaskan singer-songwriter Jewel joined Kool & The Gang to sing a medley of their ’70s hits “Hollywood Swinging,” “Ladies’ Night,” and “Celebration.” Jewel is a pretty adaptable singer; at various points in her career, she’s tried to cross over into teenpop and country. So it wasn’t that big of a leap for her to sing these funk standards that everyone knows, and she seemed to be having a blast doing it. Check out the performance below.
So what’s the next absurd combination that Kimmel should give us?
