Just a week after a Paris Eagles Of Death Metal concert was targeted by terrorists in a tragic and horrific attack, Pearl Jam have paid tribute to the band by covering one of their songs. At their show in Belo Horizonte, Brazil last night, Eddie Vedder & co. played “I Want You So Hard (Boy’s Bad News),” the first single off of EODM’s sophomore album Death By Sexy, as author Mark Yarm points out on his Everybody Loves Our Town Tumblr. (They almost played it at their show on Tuesday, but didn’t end up doing it for some reason.) You can watch footage of the cover here, starting around the 17:15 mark.

In addition to “I Want You So Hard,” Pearl Jam played a whole bunch of other covers, including the Beatles’ “Rain,” John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Van Halen’s “Eruption,” Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” Dead Boys’ “Sonic Reducer,” and Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World.” During the show, Vedder also made a speech denouncing the companies responsible for the recent environmental catastrophe in Brazil following the collapse of two dams at a mine, killing at least 9 people and flooding the surrounding region with water, mud, and mining waste, leaving hundreds of thousands without clean drinking water. Vedder said that proceeds from the concert would go to benefit victims of the crisis.
