Adele Saves Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time when we all come together as family. Which is great if you get along with your family, but can be less great if your family is maybe a little racist and has stupid opinions about things like the refugee crisis and Ben Carson. Fortunately, there is one power in this world strong enough to overcome all obstacles, to unite everyone in its sheer emotional force: Adele. (And we really mean everyone.) A few years ago, there was an SNL skit about how “Someone Like You” can make anyone cry, and last night, they similarly spotlighted the cultural dominance of “Hello,” which single-handedly saves Thanksgiving in a new sketch. Although Adele was the musical guest on last night’s episode, performing 25’s “Hello” and “When We Were Young,” she didn’t make a cameo in the sketch, sadly (although Matthew McConaughey, the episode’s host, did). Watch the sketch and the performances below.
