And it can only be positive that the “coming soon” message arrives attached to another excellent new single from Chicago’s young R&B elite. “Pass Dat” is a chilled-out yet jittery smoking anthem that strikes me as a subtly hyperactive version of the futuristic twilight sonics that made “Planes” so good. It’s almost like they laid an EDM-pop song over an R&B slow jam, which sounds like it should be a disaster but actually works like magic. And the man’s voice is a lithe beam of light as usual.
