DIIV – “Under The Sun”
New York dream-rockers DIIV are putting out Is The Is Are, the long-anticipated follow-up to their 2012 debut Oshin, in just a couple of months. All of the singles we’ve heard so far — “Dopamine,” “Bent (Roi’s Song),” and “Mire (Grant’s Song)” — have been expertly crafted bits of floaty guitar music, and the latest they’ve shared is no different. The krautrock-y “Under The Sun,” which the band were rehearsing when our very own Chris DeVille hung out with them over the year ago, starts out with ticking pinpricks of guitar and a sinuous post-punk bassline, gradually adding on layers until the whole thing just about touches the sky. Listen.
Is The Is Are is out 2/5 on Captured Tracks. Pre-order it here.
