The Arcs – “Fools Gold”
Earlier this year, the Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach put together a new band called the Arcs, and they’ve already released Yours, Dreamily, a debut album, and The Arcs Vs. The Inventors, an EP-length team-up with Dr. John and Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo. And now they’ve got a new song called “Fools Gold,” a slow blues-rock throb that they recorded for Auerbach’s buddy and frequent collaborator Danger Mouse. Danger Mouse has a new label called 30th Century Records. On Friday, he’ll release a new compilation called 30th Century Records Compilation Volume I, and it’ll feature tracks from bands like Autolux and Apache Sun. It’ll also feature “Fools Gold.” Below, listen to the song and read a quote about it from Auerbach.
Auerbach says:
Generally, Fool’s Gold is made of iron or copper pyrites that are often mistaken for gold. It has the same thrilling discovery, the same shiny luster and perceived weight as gold, but it isn’t gold and when all is said and done, it has the same value as a hunk of shit. It’s always been so easy to be a fool. We recorded this song at Easy Eye Sound in the summer of 2015. Honored to have it released on Brian’s new imprint.
30th Century Records Compilation Volume I is out 12/18.
